South African mural artist and curator Nonka Mbonambi, along with a team of local artists, was invited to design a large-scale mural adorning a wall on Main street, just outside the Arts on Main building that The Centre for the Less Good Idea calls home. During The Unexpected City programme, there were also two interactive, ‘mobile’ walls – one in The Atrium and one situated between Fox Street and the Arts on Main Courtyard that encouraged the public to leave their mark, and their thoughts on the needs of the city.
On Saturday 29 March, Mbonambi led an Open Moment in the form of a walkabout along Fox Street and Main Street, pointing out murals by local street artists and graffiti writers, ending at the mural she worked on with local artists.
