In February 2026, The Centre for the Less Good Idea travelled to the Academy of Fine Arts in Carrara, Italy, for a workshop engaging the processes of its Sounding Pictures programme.
Designed specifically for the Academy of Fine Arts in Carrara, Sounding Pictures took shape as an intensive workshop that involved the students of the Academy and the Conservatory of La Spezia in a collective research path.
Images that become sound, scores that turn into stage action, gestures that generate new relationships: the ensemble work became a device to observe the world from unexpected perspectives.
The project culminated on February 27 with a public performance in the Academy’s Great Hall.
On this occasion, co-founder of The Centre, William Kentridge, received from Cinzia Monteverdi and Marco Baudinelli (President and Director Academy of Fine Arts of Carrara) the recognition of Academician of Honor 2026, sealing an artistic dialogue that runs through geographies, disciplines and generations.
