Taking place 24 - 28 April 2019
Programmes starting at 6:30 and 8pm daily
Co-curated by Phala Ookeditse Phala and David April, Season 5 of The Centre for the Less Good Idea sees traditional forms of art and performance being re-imagined through free-spirited, transdisciplinary collaboration and the alternative realities made possible by short form staged performances called EPICS and VR 360degree films in the next iteration of The Invisible Exhibition.
Princess Thandi Tshabangu is a singer, composer, guitarist, lyricist, actor, theatre writer, and director.
Currently working on an ongoing performance project that revisits ancient songs in the context of the present-day, Tshabangu is interested in the many ways that performance is able to serve as a vehicle for stories and narratives in endlessly exciting and unique ways. During her time with The Centre for the Less Good Idea, Tshabangu has also been exploring one of Season 5’s core themes of ‘un-dancing the dance’, and applying it to her own practice of singing.
Season 5 will see Tshabangu collaborating in varying capacities with many of the Season’s artists. Primarily, she will be exploring the capacity of performance to leave a social and emotional impact on an audience through her involvement with both the 360 VR films as well as the 11-minute epic formats.
