Taking place 24 - 28 April 2019
Programmes starting at 6:30 and 8pm daily
Joe Young is a writer, director, and performer who received his training at the University of Witswatersrand.
Young works primarily with ensemble work and improvisation, looking at the idea of play in the theatre-making process and using it to construct games of performance as opposed to script-led work. As a writer he is interested in exploring issues of identity and mental health in South Africa, and uses writing as a form of mining for the personal archive.
For Season 5 of The Centre for the Less Good Idea, Young will be collaborating with performer and comedian Phillip Dikotla on an 11-minute epic that employs comedy, puppetry, and conventional theatrical performance in a novel way.
