Taking place 24 - 28 April 2019
Programmes starting at 6:30 and 8pm daily
João Renato Orecchia Zúñiga is a sound artist, composer, and musician who explores the reaches of sound through experimentation and improvisation.
Orecchia is interested in the textured and collage-like elements of sound and explores much of his own music-making in this way, extending his practice into the realms of video-art, theatre, public performance and more. Having brought a strong element of improvisation and collaboration to his previous work with The Centre for the Less Good Idea Orecchia is interested, this time, in working on a musical performance that continues to embrace experimentation and play while also interrogating what it means to take on the structure of a condensed, musical epic.
For the Centre for the Less Good Idea, Orecchia will be collaborating with a number of Season 5’s musicians and performing artists to produce an 11-minute epic that explores musical personality and instrumentation through the restrictions of sound, time, and composition.
